It's More Than Being Nice
I grew up in a state that's known for the niceness of its people. People would often say in an almost dismissive fashion "Minnesota Nice" to describe the people there. It's true, there are a lot of nice people in Minnesota, but Jesus didn't call the church to be nice. Jesus said said we are to love our neighbors. Love is more than being nice, it is being sacrificial. The ultimate act of love shown to us by God is when Jesus willingly gave his life for us.
In order to show people love, we must sacrifice something: time, money, talent, resources, etc. How can you reach 1 person this month with the love of Christ? There are a lot of different ways. Some might be corporate, that is doing something with a group of people. You could volunteer at Mean Street Ministries on a Tuesday night, going door to door along some of the hotels along Colfax providing food for the working poor, praying for them, and maybe even sharing the gospel.
Maybe you could go with your Life Group. Contact Mean Street and set it up.
